Three months after winning the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open by 10 strokes, England’s Laura Davies authored another virtuoso performance in a senior major, this time going wire-to-wire in a three-stroke victory in the second Senior LPGA Championship on the Pete Dye Course at French Lick (Indiana) Resort.
The World Golf Hall of Famer opened with a 4-under-par 68 and followed that effort with consecutive rounds of 2-under 70. Her total of 8-under 208 doubled up the 4-under totals of Sweden’s Helen Alfredsson and Italy’s Silvia Cavallieri.
“It’s a golf course I didn’t think I would win on because it isn’t my kind of golf course,” Davies said. “It’s a big win for me, it really is.”
