Brooke Henderson on Sunday became just the second Canadian and first in 45 years to win the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open.
The victory came with a trophy presented by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and a tweet from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Historic win Brooke, congratulations! Keep making us proud. https://t.co/8H6VGFKAil

As our own Randall Mell pointed out, things have changed a bit since Jocelyne Bourassa won the inaugural title in 1973:
Gas was 40 cents a gallon the year Bourassa first won the event. Secretariat was the Triple Crown winner. Hip Hop was just emerging as a musical genre, and Federal Express was just getting started as a courier delivery company.
Congratulations to our friends, buddies, guys and gals from the North on Brooke’s win.
