Valspar Champ Casey Rises to #12

Paul Casey pushed his way towards the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) on Sunday with his victory at the Valspar Championship in Florida.

Casey rose from 17th to 12th to the win. Justin Rose (#6) is the only Brit in the top 10 currently, But #11-#14 are all Englishman: Tommy Fleetwood, Casey, Rory McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton.

Sergio Garcia re-entered the top 10 and #9 with his fourth-place finish at Valspar and Patrick Reed climbed four spots to No. 23 for finishing tied for second.

Even though he fell apart in the final round for a second straight week, India’s Shubhankar Sharma moved up again, two spots to #64. He was #202 to start the year.

Hero Indian Open winner Matt Wallace rose 158 spots to No. 94 from No. 152.

And Tiger Woods rose 139 spots to No. 149 with his second-place finish at Valspar. He has risen 507 spots since the end of 2017.

 

FedEx Cup Standings

Paul Casey joined the top 10 and Tiger Woods the top 50 of the latest FedEx Cup standings. Casey collected 500 points with his win at the Valspar Championship to rise from 39th to eighth. He has 842 points.

Patrick Reed rose from 98th to 33rd with his second-place finish and Woods jumped from 132nd to 43rd. The top 125 players in the world qualify for the year-end championship.

 

Race to Dubai Standings

Sharma Shubhnakar extended his lead in the Race to Dubai, up to 978,199 points after teh Hero Indian open. Tommy Fleetwood is second with 755,254 points.
