The U.S. is currently enjoying what is arguably the best (and deepest) crop of players they’ve had in the last 20 years. Looking at a snapshot of the mid-March world rankings every year since 1999, it is easy to see how the number of Americans in the top 25 of the world rankings has changed. After a dominant period in the early 2000s, the stranglehold shifted to a much weaker grip during the latter part of the decade. That has now reversed as evidenced by where things stand today, according to numbers-cruncher Sean Fairholm.
