Delayed BMW third round scheduled to begin at noon ET

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa – Third-round play at the BMW Championship is expected to begin at noon ET, in threesomes off of split tees.

Heavy overnight rains and scattered morning showers in the Philadelphia area prompted tournament officials to push back the the beginning of Round 3. Aronimink Golf club has taken on an estimated 2 1/2 inches of rain since Friday night.

The last threesome of leader Xander Schauffele, Justin Rose and Keegan Bradley is now slated for 1:50 p.m.

Tiger Woods, Ryan Armour and Ted Potter Jr. go off at 1 p.m. Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Jason Day are at 1:30 p.m.

Preferred lies in closely-mown areas will be employed.

The PGA Tour’s weather forecast is also expecting 1-1 1/2 inches of rain on Sunday with wind gusts of 20-25 mph, creating more delays and perhaps a Monday finish.
