Woods' Scotty Cameron putter reappears

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. – Tiger Woods looks as though he may play his third straight event with his third different putter.

Woods’ iconic Scotty Cameron Newport 2 was back in the bag Tuesday at Aronimink, where Woods played the front nine alongside Rory McIlroy ahead of this week’s BMW Championship.

Woods, who has won 13 of his 14 major titles with his Newport, made the switch to a TaylorMade Ardmore 3 mallet earlier this summer at the Quicken Loans National. At the time, he lauded the putter’s weighting, toe swing and face grooves. The move certainly appeared to be working as Woods made Sunday charges at both the Open and PGA Championships.

But after a miserable week on the greens at the Northern Trust, Woods arrived last week at the Dell Technologies Championship with another TaylorMade putter, a Juno model in the style of a traditional blade, like his Newport and even more like his old Nike Method.

It’s unclear whether Woods will keep the Scotty in the bag this week, but it would seem to be a good bet. He practiced with the Juno during last week’s pro-am and played all four rounds with it at TPC Boston. In a rare move, Woods has opted to skip tomorrow’s Wednesday pro-am.

After walking off the ninth green on Tuesday, Woods and his caddie Joe LaCava stopped off at the putting green for extra work with the Scotty Cameron.
