Bjorn (back) withdraws from PGA, replaced by Streelman

ST. LOUIS – Thomas Bjorn will have more time to scout potential picks this week at Bellerive.

The European Ryder Cup captain withdrew from the 100th PGA Championship on Wednesday morning, citing his “old back.”

Bjorn will be replaced in the field by Kevin Streelman, who will be making his first major championship start in two years. And he was quite excited by the news.

In six prior PGA appearances, Streelman has missed the cut on three occasions, with a best career finish of T-12 at Oak Hill in 2013.

Streelman’s addition to the field means Kelly Kraft is now next in line on the alternate list.
